Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Mue's services. By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our Services.
1. The Mue Services
1.1 Description of Services
Mue provides URL shortening and link management services that allow you to:
- Create shortened URLs from long URLs
- Customize short links with custom slugs and domains
- Track analytics for your links (clicks, geographic data, device types, etc.)
- Generate QR codes for your short links
- Set password protection and expiration dates for links
- Manage links through our web application and Chrome extension
- Access API endpoints for programmatic link management (Pro plan)
1.2 Account Registration
You may use basic features of Mue without creating an account. To access advanced features, you must:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your password and account
- Promptly update your account information if it changes
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
1.3 Account Access
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree to:
- Not share your account with others
- Not use another person's account without permission
- Keep your password secure and confidential
- Immediately notify Mue of any breach of security or unauthorized use
Mue will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.
2. Acceptable Use
2.1 Permitted Use
You may use Mue for lawful purposes only. You agree to comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations.
2.2 Prohibited Use
You may NOT use Mue to:
- Create links to illegal content, malware, phishing sites, or fraudulent material
- Violate any intellectual property rights
- Transmit spam, unsolicited messages, or chain letters
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or servers
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without permission
- Create links that violate our community guidelines
- Engage in any activity that could harm Mue or its users
- Circumvent any rate limiting or security measures
- Resell or redistribute the Services without authorization
Mue reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who violates these prohibitions, including removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting to law enforcement authorities.
2.3 Link Content Policy
You are solely responsible for the content of URLs you shorten. We may remove or disable links that:
- Violate these Terms
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Contain malicious content (malware, viruses, phishing)
- Promote illegal activities
- Contain sexually explicit material involving minors
- Violate applicable laws or regulations
We reserve the right to review links and remove content at our discretion.
3. Data Ownership and License
3.1 Your Content
You retain all ownership rights to the URLs and content you submit to Mue. By using our Services, you grant Mue a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Store and process your URLs to provide the Services
- Display analytics data related to your links
- Use aggregated, anonymized data for service improvement
This license terminates when you delete your content or close your account, except for data we are required to retain by law.
3.2 Customer Data
"Customer Data" means any data, information, or material provided or submitted by you to the Services, including:
- URLs you shorten
- Custom slugs and metadata
- Link settings and configurations
- Analytics and click data
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the right to use all Customer Data
- Your Customer Data does not violate any third-party rights
- Your Customer Data complies with all applicable laws
3.3 Mue's Intellectual Property
The Services, including all software, design, text, graphics, logos, and other content, are owned by Mue and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of our Services
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
- Remove any copyright or proprietary notices
- Use our trademarks without written permission
4. Subscription Plans and Billing
4.1 Free Plan
The Free plan includes:
- 15 short links per month
- Basic click analytics
- QR code generation
- Password protection and expiration
- Standard support
Free plan limits reset monthly and unused links do not carry over.
4.2 Pro Plan
The Pro plan is a paid subscription that includes:
- Unlimited short links
- Custom domains
- Advanced analytics with exports
- API access
- Team workspaces
- Priority support
- Early access to new features

4.3 Payment Terms
- Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance
- All fees are in U.S. Dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated
- Payment is processed through Stripe, our payment provider
- You authorize us to charge your payment method on each billing cycle
- If payment fails, we may suspend or terminate your account
- All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
4.4 Price Changes
We may change our pricing at any time. For existing subscriptions:
- We will provide at least 30 days' notice of price increases
- Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle
- You may cancel your subscription before the price change takes effect
4.5 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation:
- You retain Pro features until the end of your current billing period
- Your account automatically downgrades to the Free plan
- No refunds are provided for partial billing periods
- Your data remains accessible under the Free plan limits
4.6 Taxes
All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes (sales tax, VAT, GST, etc.). You are responsible for paying all taxes associated with your purchase. If we are required to collect taxes, they will be added to your invoice.
5. API Access
5.1 API Terms
API access is available to Pro plan subscribers. By using our API, you agree to:
- Use the API only for your own applications
- Comply with rate limits (1,000 requests/hour for Pro users)
- Not abuse or attempt to circumvent API limitations
- Properly attribute Mue when required
- Keep your API keys confidential
5.2 API Rate Limits
- Free users: 100 requests/hour
- Pro users: 1,000 requests/hour
Exceeding rate limits may result in temporary suspension of API access.
5.3 API Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the API at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes when possible.
6. Termination
6.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by:
- Going to Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Contacting support@mue.so
Upon termination:
- Your access to the Services immediately ceases
- Your short links will be deactivated within 30 days
- Your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
- Any outstanding fees remain due and payable
6.2 Termination by Mue
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Your account has been inactive for over 12 months (Free plan)
- You fail to pay outstanding fees
- We are required to do so by law
We will provide notice when reasonably possible, except in cases of:
- Legal requirements
- Security concerns
- Fraud or abuse
6.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- All licenses granted to you immediately cease
- We may delete your data per our retention policies
- Sections that by their nature should survive will survive (e.g., limitations of liability, indemnification)
7. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at https://mue.so/privacy.
We collect and use data as described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Services, you consent to such collection and use.
8. Service Level and Availability
8.1 Service Availability
We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Availability of specific features
- Compatibility with all devices or browsers
- That the Services will meet your specific requirements
8.2 Maintenance
We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance. We will attempt to:
- Provide advance notice of scheduled maintenance
- Minimize service disruptions
- Perform maintenance during off-peak hours when possible
8.3 Support
- Free plan: Community support via email
- Pro plan: Priority email support with 24-hour response time (business days)
Support is provided in English.
9. Warranties and Disclaimers
9.1 Limited Warranty
Mue warrants that the Services will substantially conform to the description in these Terms under normal use.
9.2 Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY
- FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
- NON-INFRINGEMENT
- TITLE
- QUIET ENJOYMENT
- ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- The Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- The results obtained from using the Services will be accurate or reliable
- The quality of the Services will meet your expectations
- Any errors in the Services will be corrected
You use the Services at your own risk.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 Limitation of Damages
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MUE, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR:
- INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
- LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE
- LOSS OF GOODWILL OR REPUTATION
- BUSINESS INTERRUPTION
- COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES
WHETHER ARISING FROM CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
10.2 Cap on Liability
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:
- The amount you paid to Mue in the 12 months preceding the claim, or
- $100 USD
10.3 Exceptions
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or exclusion of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Mue, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Services
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another party
- Your Customer Data or content you submit
- Your breach of any representations or warranties
We reserve the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, at your expense.
12. Confidentiality
12.1 Confidential Information
"Confidential Information" means any non-public information disclosed by one party to the other, including:
- Technical information
- Business information
- Product plans
- Customer data
12.2 Obligations
Each party agrees to:
- Keep Confidential Information confidential
- Use Confidential Information only for the purposes of these Terms
- Not disclose Confidential Information to third parties without consent
- Protect Confidential Information with the same care as their own confidential information
12.3 Exceptions
Confidential Information does not include information that:
- Is publicly available through no fault of the receiving party
- Was rightfully known before disclosure
- Is independently developed without use of Confidential Information
- Is required to be disclosed by law or court order
13. Dispute Resolution
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.2 Arbitration
Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Services shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's Commercial Arbitration Rules.
Arbitration will be conducted in Delaware, United States, in English.
13.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AGREE THAT DISPUTES WILL BE RESOLVED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS ACTIONS OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.
13.4 Exceptions
Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for:
- Intellectual property infringement
- Confidentiality breaches
- Violation of terms requiring immediate action
14. General Provisions
14.1 Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes:
- We will post the updated Terms on our website
- We will update the "Last Updated" date
- We will notify you via email (for significant changes)
- Changes become effective 30 days after posting
Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14.2 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Mue regarding the Services and supersede all prior agreements.
14.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
14.4 Waiver
Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce it later. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by Mue.
14.5 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our written consent. We may assign these Terms to any affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
14.6 Force Majeure
Neither party shall be liable for failure to perform due to causes beyond their reasonable control, including:
- Acts of God
- War, terrorism, or civil unrest
- Government actions
- Natural disasters
- Internet or telecommunications failures
- Labor disputes
14.7 Relationship
Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and Mue.
14.8 Third-Party Services
The Services may integrate with third-party services (e.g., Stripe for payments). Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
14.9 Export Control
You may not use the Services if you are:
- Located in a country embargoed by the United States
- Listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited parties
You represent that you are not subject to export restrictions.
14.10 U.S. Government Rights
If you are a U.S. government entity, the Services are "Commercial Items" as defined in FAR 2.101, consisting of "Commercial Computer Software" and "Commercial Computer Software Documentation."
14.11 Notices
Notices to you may be sent to the email address associated with your account. You consent to receive electronic communications.

Notices are deemed received when sent to the provided email address.
14.12 Survival
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including:
- Data Ownership and License
- Warranties and Disclaimers
- Limitation of Liability
- Indemnification

15. DMCA Policy
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe your copyright has been infringed, please send a DMCA notice to dmca@mue.so including:
- Your contact information
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- Identification of the infringing material
- A statement of good faith belief
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate
- Your physical or electronic signature
We will respond to valid DMCA notices by removing or disabling access to allegedly infringing content.
