Is the extension really free?
Yes! You can create up to 20 links per hour completely free without creating an account. Sign in for unlimited links and advanced features like analytics and custom domains.
Do I need an account to use it?
No, you can use the extension anonymously to shorten links, generate QR codes, and add password protection. However, signing in unlocks additional features like analytics, link history, custom domains, and team collaboration.
What permissions does the extension request and why?
The Mue extension requests minimal permissions: access to the active tab (to read the URL you want to shorten) and storage (to save your preferences). We do not request access to your browsing history or any other sensitive data.
Is my data private and secure?
Absolutely. We only access URLs that you explicitly choose to shorten. We do not track your browsing history, sell your data, or share it with third parties. All shortened links are encrypted in transit and stored securely.
Does it work on Firefox/Safari/Edge?
Currently, the Mue extension is available for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera). Firefox and Safari versions are on our roadmap. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when they launch.
How do I see analytics for my links?
To access analytics, sign in to your Mue account by clicking the extension icon and selecting "Sign In". Once signed in, all links you create will appear in your dashboard at app.mue.so with detailed click analytics.
Can I use custom domains with the extension?
Yes! Custom domains are available for signed-in users on Pro plans and above. After connecting your custom domain in the Mue dashboard, you can select it when shortening links via the extension.
