Google Safe Browsing Integration

All shortened links created through Mue are automatically screened using Google Safe Browsing technology. This integration provides:

  • Automatic screening - All links are checked against Google's database of known malicious websites
  • Suspicious link warnings - Links flagged as potentially dangerous display a warning page before redirecting
  • Blocked links - Confirmed malicious links are blocked entirely to protect users

User Responsibility

Despite our automated safety measures, you remain fully responsible for all link content you create through Mue. This includes:

  • Ensuring all shortened URLs comply with this Acceptable Use Policy
  • Verifying that linked content does not violate applicable laws or third-party rights
  • Monitoring your links for changes in destination content

Mue's Rights

Mue reserves the right to delete unsafe links without prior notice to protect our users and platform integrity. We may also proactively investigate links reported by users or flagged by our automated systems.

Reporting Malicious Links

If you encounter a malicious or unsafe link created through Mue, please report it immediately to abuse@mue.so with the link URL and description of the issue.

4. Enforcement

Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy will result in enforcement actions proportional to the severity of the violation.

Graduated Enforcement Approach

For minor or first-time violations, we typically follow a graduated enforcement process:

  1. Warning - Email notification explaining the violation with a request to correct the behavior
  2. Individual link deletion - Removal of specific violating links
  3. Temporary account suspension - Service access suspended for 24-72 hours
  4. Permanent account termination - Account and all links permanently deleted

Immediate Termination

For severe violations, we may terminate your account immediately without warning. Violations warranting immediate termination include:

  • Malware distribution or phishing campaigns
  • Illegal content involving child exploitation or terrorism
  • Large-scale spam operations
  • Repeated violations after previous warnings

Consequences of Violations

Depending on the severity of the violation, enforcement actions may include:

  • Link deletion - Removal of individual links that violate this policy
  • Account suspension - Temporary loss of access to your account and links
  • Account termination - Permanent deletion of your account and all associated data (no refunds for paid accounts)
  • Reporting to authorities - Severe violations involving illegal content may be reported to law enforcement

Appeals Process

If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may appeal the decision:

  • Contact - Email support@mue.so with your account email, case details, and any supporting evidence
  • Response time - We will respond to appeals within 5 business days
  • Review process - Appeals are reviewed by a human moderator (not automated systems)
  • Final decision - Our leadership team makes the final determination on appeals

Appeals are available for good-faith errors or misunderstandings. Frivolous appeals or repeated violations may result in permanent termination without further appeal.

5. Reporting Abuse

We rely on our community to help identify and report violations of this Acceptable Use Policy.

How to Report Abuse

To report links or users violating this policy, please email abuse@mue.so with the following information:

  • Link URL - The specific Mue shortened link being reported
  • Description of violation - Which prohibited activity category applies (spam, malware, fraud, etc.)
  • Evidence - Screenshots, email headers, or other documentation supporting your report
  • Your contact information - Optional for anonymous reports, but helpful for follow-up questions

Response Time

We are committed to reviewing all abuse reports promptly:

  • Response time - Within 48 hours (business days)
  • Investigation - Valid reports are investigated thoroughly
  • Action taken - If a violation is confirmed, appropriate enforcement action is taken
  • Reporter notification - If you provided contact information, we will notify you of the outcome

Anonymous Reporting

You may submit abuse reports anonymously (without providing contact information). Anonymous reports are investigated with the same priority as reports with contact details. However, we encourage providing contact information in case we need clarification or additional evidence.

False Reports

False or malicious abuse reports undermine our ability to protect the community. If we determine that you have intentionally submitted false reports to harass other users or waste our resources, we may take enforcement action against your account.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or service features.

Material Changes

For significant updates to this policy, we will provide advance notice:

  • Email notification - All registered users will receive an email notification
  • 30-day notice - Material changes take effect 30 days after notification

Non-Material Changes

For minor clarifications or non-material updates, we will:

  • Post the updated policy on this page immediately
  • Update the "Last Updated" date
  • No email notification required

Blog Announcements

Significant policy updates will be announced via a blog post on mue.so/blog, explaining the changes and the rationale behind them.
